We knew the house was meant for us when we saw the gate. Couldn't resist taking a few shots...all be it abstract ones...of the it. What's more welcoming that an old fence bearing your initials? I like the contrast created by the visual field. Not my favorite composition...but I have to say the texture appeals to me.
Photography: A Corvette Love Letter
I think this is one of my favorite images of the day. The colors, shadows and filter effects create the right amount of visual tension...while still representing the beauty of the Corvette. The fierceness of this image is a nice 'love letter' when thinking about the Corvette brand - especially when viewed with a nostalgic eye.
Photography: 'Shady' Lady
The original photo was nice, but the filters make this image so much more. The narrative generated by use of effects is powerful and still lets the beauty of the car shine. Shadows and reflections plus a balance leaning toward slate in the color palette really make this image work for me.
Photography: Ford Econoline
We have a Ford like this one in our garage. Truth be told, maybe not like this one...but it aspires to be! Had to get a few snaps of this one in the show. The color version (metallic flake green) of this image is great, but the high contract black and white is my preference of the two if I had to pick one.
Photography: Red Engine
Again, I can see my interest in color here. I enjoy seeing the contrast and tension created by the red and retro green color. The combination of great lighting and the outdoors added some softness in the reflection on the engine. The repeating and varied lines is also a nice element in this photo.
Photography: Lemon Bronco
The color of the lemon yellow in contrast to the blue and green in the chrome is probably my draw to this image. In my earlier work as a painter I loved to use fields of strong color - this is an obvious extension of that impulse. I this as a study for a large painting, but the photo is equally appealing to me visually.
Photography: Spalding
Continuation of weekend photo project. Apparently all branding or font based marketing is on my list to tweak. Really like the black and orange contrast coupled with the texture of the basketball. Obviously I went filter crazy in Photoshop...but isn't that part of the fun?
Photography: Nomad in the Shadow
Weekend photo exercise aimed at capturing a number of interesting fonts/letter-based images. Lucky for me local car show was in the works so timing was great! I love photography and video production work.
Original Artwork: Program Marketing
Photography: New Campus Facility
As part of district bond communications, I photographed campus facilities during capture of video and b-roll footage sessions. These photos were then used in print, video and online publications to market the district bond program and communicate status of projects and use of funds.
Photography: Santa's Farm
Photography: Sciene is cool.
One of my favorite photos. Applied heavy filter to original image to give vintage feel. Used in publication of the online eCurrent, the district monthly newsletter. Image was captured during filming of a science event sponsored by partner in education.
Brand: Usage Guide
Brand guide developed in conjunction with logo, tagline and branding campaign. Used to communicate standards and brand use to departments and campus leadership.
Brand: Logo Development
District rebranded the first year I was in SBISB. I worked with brand committee to develop brand including logo redesign. Process took several months and numerous logo sample.
Brand: Logo Development
Down to final logo designs in rebrand process. Note tagline and color usage. Both were driven by brand committees work and considerable direction from internal leadership.
The involvement of key communicators in the rebranding process resulted in a smooth rollout and positive response to the change once the new brand was released.
ePubs: News Alerts
All electronic publications are formatted for alignment and consistency. The clean design and minimal format are a direct result of user response and a move to align the with a new district website design. Both web and digital publications function on a variety of user devices.
ePubs: Snapshots
Photo spotlight published on an as needed basis. Stories submitted by campuses and intended to drive traffic between district and campus websites. Key goal of publication is to leverage web traffic and build connections and communication between administration and campus/classrooms.
ePubs: The Top Ten
Originally we published a snapshots publication and then a larger weekly news item.
To develop a model to more efficiently message on key point on a more flexible production timeline, we shifted to a new publications model where we would publish a shorted weekly publication and then a end of the month larger news piece.
ePubs: The eCurrent Newsletter
Each month we publish a news piece that covers the top headlines for the month. Content is pulled from our daily news blog and features any additional video or multimedia produced that month.
We keep the formatting consistent to build expectation and reader recognition.
ePubs: Board Briefs
Formatting of publication follows standards used for all ePublications. This is a monthly brief distributed by email and online. Featured news and employee and volunteer recognitions.
Two videos are also produced in conjunction to honor employee and volunteer of the month.
Both videos are also shown at the monthly board meeting.
Social Media: Instagram
Started posting photos to Instagram to test response.
It's easy and fun...and I repurpose images for other ePublications.
Social Media: Facebook
I manage postings and content for the district Facebook account. While our goal is to generate dialogue, we have proceeded with caution. We do repost and allow commenting that is monitored, but most communications align with our press room news releases. We have build a solid following in the last two years and anticipate continued grow. We are expanding two-way communication with all our social media accounts and hope to see positive response from that use.
Video: Instruction that Rocks!
News item filmed for communications on new instructional models in district aimed at supporting five-year plan. Topic of teacher using Garage Band in instruction was appealing and we had a blast filming the segment. Wrote narrative and messaging for piece and edited in entirety. Ran in weekly ePublication and as a general news item. Goal of showcasing innovative instruction and curriculum planning.
